The electric pool heater is a coil that is fixed to a steady electrical current which heats up as the current flows through it. The heater works with the same principle as the hot water tank heater, however the water capacity in the pool happens to be several times that of the hot water tank. Compared to gaseous heating of the pool the electric pool heater is quite cheaper, it is simpler to install and has lesser operational demands in both labor and fuel cost.
The disadvantages of using an electric pool heater are that; the operation cost in terms of billing is quite high especially in some countries. Countries that have high rates of electrical bill payments demand lots of cash inform of billing. Another disadvantage of the electric pool heater is efficiency; due to the coil being just a few feet long the transition period of water from cold to hot takes some time and thus is not quite efficient. In some cases there might be failure due to power loses or short circuits.
To suffice for the shortcomings of the electric pool heater one can integrate the system with a friendlier system and create a hybrid system. One such system would be a solar electric hybrid system that would use solar power during the day to collect heat from the sun and heat up the water and during the night hours the electric pool heater would be used to heat the preheated water making the work less energy consuming and thus reducing on the required amount of electricity needed to run the heater.
